St Petersburg, Russia - 1865

As the nation lurches toward modernity God is not yet dead but he is dying.
The emancipation of the serfs has bought much needed freedom but also poverty , destitution and urban degradation.
This new nation needs new ideas and Raskolnikov; a student, has one, an idea so persuasive that it will lead him to take a hatchet and  half dreaming murder two women in their own home...
This is his story...

This new adaptation of Dostoyevsky's classic tale of murder, investigation and redemption boils the action down to its basic elements for ninety minutes of fast paced theatre, as short sharp and intense as a blow from a hatchet...
